世界遺産の原始林自生の多年草、鹿が食い荒らす
奈良市の東大寺や興福寺などとともに、世界遺産に登録された国特別天然記念物の春日山原始林（約３００ヘクタール）に自生し、絶滅が心配されている多年草のジングウスゲとセンダイスゲが、原始林で行動範囲を広げる鹿の食害に遭っていることが、県の調査でわかった。

島田市の智満寺にある国の天然記念物で樹齢８００年を超えるとされる「頼朝杉」が倒れていることが７日、分かった。 頼朝杉は「智満寺の十本杉」のうちの一本で、源頼朝が手植えしたと伝えられている。智満寺本堂の西に立っており、高さは約３６メートル。

島田市は７日、同市千葉の智満寺付近にある国指定天然記念物「智満寺の十本杉」のうち、樹齢８００年以上と推定される「頼朝杉(よりともすぎ)」が根元から折れたと発表した。老齢化が原因とみられる。 倒れた頼朝杉は高さ３６メートル、直径約３メートル。
