There are two countries where WiMAX can be used: America and Korea

WiMAX is a service for Japan. Therefore, it can not be used overseas usually. However, in the United States and Korea, you can enjoy the mobile Internet using WiMAX services provided by local vendors.

However, there are some points to be aware of in order to use WiMAX overseas. We will introduce the points to be noted.

WiMAX can only be used on WiMAX PCs with a specific communication module
Overseas, WiMAX services can only be used on WiMAX PCs with specific communication modules. Data communication cards can not use WiMAX services.

Also, even a WiMAX PC with a specific communication module built in may not be available depending on the version of the connection utility. If you are planning to use WiMAX overseas, be sure to upgrade your connection utility version before going abroad.

In order to use WiMAX overseas, you must contract with a local vendor that provides WiMAX services.

The way to contract with a foreign vendor is easy. Launch a WiMAX PC in a WiMAX compatible area in the US and Korea, open the browser and it will automatically move to the contract screen. All you have to do is follow the screen and make a contract.

As a method of contract, for example, a contract can be performed in a limited period such as "24 hours limited". Therefore, there is no such thing as "I forgot to cancel the contract and paid an unnecessary fee."

As of 2015, the price plan for Korea is set at 3000 won in 24 hours. There are 3 types of rate plans in the US, and you can choose from about $ 5 in 2 hours, about $ 10 in 24 hours, and about $ 25 in 7 days. Make sure to choose the plan that suits your period of stay.

WiMAX2 + can not be used overseas

Currently, "WiMAX 2+", which is said to have a maximum downlink speed of 220 Mbps in Japan, is beginning to spread. However, this service is currently limited to Japan, and you can not use the same service overseas.

Some areas in the US and Korea are outside the WiMAX service area

In the United States and Korea, WiMAX services can be used as in Japan, but

some areas are out of service area. Basically, it seems that you can use the service without problems in urban areas, but especially when visiting the suburbs, please check in advance which area will be out of area.
