- can it be used without the verb?November 17, 2017 at 11:19pm
- Seen it a handful of times while reading and it seems mostly to be used like "to close up shop for the day," though according to jisho.org, it could also be closing a shop forever/going out of business.
As for using it with verbs, according to my Japanese friend, seems like it's not really used used without the する。Given the example:
「昨日、閉店するのが少し早かったね。」
That sentence would apparently sound a little weird if phrased as 「昨日、閉店は少し早かったね。」November 19, 2017 at 11:39am - whoops, lost my thought halfway through, meant to say "As for using it without the verb"November 19, 2017 at 11:49am
- thanks a lot
November 19, 2017 at 10:27pm - i learned this from a youtube video a few years ago; apparently you can say "閉店ガラガラ" to rudely shut down somebody trying to talk to you. (ガラガラ is a shutter sound)November 23, 2017 at 6:14am
