I remember maybe a year ago I would constantly feel bad over "practice", because I couldn't remember everything and did many mistakes or had to look up the words in dictionaries.
But after I returned I could see I still remember a lot and though there are lots of words I need to look up in the dictionary now, I realise it is a part of the process. Calming down :D

I had even more success with Memrise in Chinese. I would again feel bad when meeting the words for the first, second and third time. But after I returned I remembered so much. I also remembered how hard I studied some words to remember them. It pays off.

The only problem I have is that I remember shapes of kanjiたち and meanings, but the words and meanings are far from being part of my vocabulary. My brain has difficulties retrieving them for real-life use(also because I almost have none and I don't practice). Same with Chinese, but since I am sitting with Chinese textbooks now, I sometimes meet the words from Memrise and it is a huge bonus I don't have to learn them, but I know them already. Same will be with Minna no nihongo I assume.
Ugh, so little time, let's study!

it takes really a lot of time to make new "entries" in our memory. sometimes this will decrease your motivation because it feels like no progress, but being around kanjis and new grammar, will slowly begin to form part of you. 頑張りましょう!

    感謝します ^__^
"being around" is a great way of putting it! When you studying Japanese in Japan you see the Japanese all around you and that makes your memory go rounds at first. You remember better and learn faster.
The minimal effort you can do outside of Japan: come here for daily dose of exposure :D

It takes repetition and actual encounter for us to be able to effectively learn words. Try reading more Japanese content instead of rote memorization.

I did want to just do rote memorization, but also pick the Minna no nihongo textbook and all all, but I only had powers for japaneseclass in the end. And funny enough I spent so many powers there getting frustrated. Could have finish the Minna no nihongo on the chill note :D That's one thing to keep in mind for me learning other languages, I guess...

And yeah, I totally have reading skills to master.
    Do you recommend something? :D

I remember I started some easy Japanese stories, but I kept getting annoyed, since they are all in kana, which I knew enough of. I wanted to practice kanji comprehension, but I didn't find easy books with kanji in them.
I should probably google more to find kanji-filled and easy books. Or just marathon that grammar, baby!

Steve Kaufmann or lingosteve said he found some small comedy sketches or something to read when learning Chinese. Should google that for Japanese. And google what exactly mr. Steve read.

Pokemon White/Black has a kanji on and off mode in Japanese

I just remembered, I finished pokemon black/white with the Kanji version. I'd say you'll learn a lot of vocabulary just by finishing the game.

I still cannot forget the word 妨げる. It was used by the psychic elite four member who is always sleeping
