I've been a member for a while now, but it's only been recently that I've been really into the site. I really like the help I'm getting with my vocabulary and kanji!

But I'm wondering, is there any part of the site that helps out with basic sentence structure, the different particles, etc?

While vocabulary and kanji knowledge are important, I'm also interested in knowing how to weave all that knowledge together to form sentences. Can anyone help me out with this?

Yo! Unfortunately there's no such thing in this site...
Shikashi, there used to be a link to a grammar guide in the lessons section but I don't know why it's been removed some time ago...

Ah, thanks a million Medyrius! The site you've posted has definitely caught my attention.
    Honto ni arigatou!

By the way, out of curiosity, I've noticed that one of your main passions for learning Japanese was to be able to watch anime without relying on subtitles.

Since the time you've started, do you feel as though you're much closer to your goal?

    Mochiron mochiron! ^^
I'm still far away from complete understanding but there's definitely a lot of expressions I'm familiared with now and it's all thanks to the grammar lessons...
If I were to estimate my progression I'd say I'm about 30% free of subs... I think what I'm still lacking is vocabulary, a lot more vocabulary...

How about you? What made you want to learn japanese?

    Whoa that's pretty awesome!
Those grammar lessons helped out that much, huh?

I should definitely get started on that!

As for why I want to learn Japanese, well, I've actually had the chance to live in various parts Japan for about 10 years during my childhood, but for some reason I never picked up the language!

I felt that since Japan was such a big part of my life when growing up, I owed it to myself to at least learn how to speak it fluently. If I don't, I feel like I've been robbing myself of an incredible opportunity.

And I definitely want to go back someday!

    What a waste I should say :P
But I guess you just weren't charmed enough by the language...
Too bad that chance you had came so early...

May I ask how old you were back then?

Sorry about the wait, things have gotten rather busy lately!

I wasn't exactly in Japan for an entire chunk of 10 years, but it was more like, I would switch between Japan and the States.

3 years in Japan, then 3 years in the US, and then 3 years in Japan, then back to the US, etc.

And it all adds up to a total of around 10 years in Japan, in various different places. I guess perhaps the constant switching of environments might've hindered my fully picking up the language, since I was rather young during the first two visits...but alas, it's ultimately my fault for not picking up the language sooner, lol.

But I've promised myself that'll definitely change.

    Yo, hisashiburi...
Nice to have you back ;)

So I definitely got it wrong ^_^'
I was really thinking you'd spent 10 years there...

    Well, Gambarinasai ;)
