For the challenges I'd rather wait until I'm able to read Hiragana/Katakana completely. At the moment I rely much on my hearing because I do know the words.
I started learning accidently by watching a lot of Anime as a kid, and now I might do my internship in Japan next year so it is time to step up the game. :'D
In the future I'd love to take a challenge.

Wow an internship in Japan sounds exciting :)
what methods are you using to learn kana? The practice ob here is good but there are also some good videos on genkiJapan.net which can help them stick in your mind I found the games ob that site very helpfull to start out with. Where as I joind jcjp to improve my vocab and kanji etc.
