  after mastering hiragana & katakana, you can start to learn both vocabulary and kanji.

  Vocabulary, then Kanji. But I mean do the first vocabulary, then the first kanji. Don't do all the vocab then all the kanji.
  
  You have to learn the stroke order of the kanji, or at least you should.
