Hi everyone!

This is a great website, if I end up using it enough I'll happily throw in some $ via Paypal. I encourage the rest of you to do the same if you haven't already.

A bit about me:

I'm trying to brush up on my Japanese, my kanji is getting REALLY rusty. I just wish I found this website years ago.

I went to Japan last December and got around / able to make conversation with people just fine, but there's always room for improvement. I couldn't read some of the kanji though, which was pretty frustrating.

Tip: If you ever visit Japan, make sure to buy a JR Rail pass - comes in 7 / 14 / 21 days. I bought the 7 day pass. I went from Osaka - Kyoto - Nara - (a couple other cities in the area) and then back to Osaka. Next day: Tokyo - back to Osaka. Next day I took a flight via Jetstar airlines up to Sapporo, stayed 1 night, then took a bunch of trains down to Utsunomiya (some relatives live there). I must have saved at least 70,000 yen at the very least!!!

here's the website that I bought mine off of: http://www.jrpass.com/?gclid=CIGDscfzr74CFQqIfgodj6EAvQ

7 day pass costs about $300 USD, unlimited travel on JR trains, except for certain special express bullet trains. the bullet trains you do get to ride are the 'regular' ones with a few more stops along the route (they're still super fast though)

depending where you go, you might find yourself on a couple 'local' trains that aren't affliated with JR, in which case you'll have to pay like 500 yen or something
