Hi everyone. I was directed here after watching Rachel and Jun's videos. I have always wanted to learn Japanese and coming here is my first step. I have taken a few vocabulary lessons. I think I got the pronunciation down from the first 2 chapters but reading Kanji is very intimidating. I would have to listen to the words in order for me to understand it. Any advice on how to tackle the reading part or should I just focus on speaking and listening first?

While I'm relatively new here, I am not new to learning Japanese. What I've found really helps me associate the kanji and the pronunciation is using a Japanese keyboard. Like how in elementary school you would write the word over and over (you could do this, too), I will type it over and over. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links here of not, but I really love gate2home's virtual Japanese keyboard; no need for installation or anything. Hope this helps. :)

Well, I am here because of these Rachel&Jun;, too! Love those guys :3
My opinion is that it depends on whether you want to learn Japanese in order to study in Japan or you just wawnt to be able to use the language. If it is the first case, focus on reading kanji. If it is the second case, then focus on speaking and listening. But the advice of tinklehoy-san is really helpful if you know the meaning of what you are righting. I mean, there are many kanjis that are pronounced the same but mean absolutely different things.
