Hi there, i'm new here. Just joined due to a friends recommendation. I've been learning Japanese since February this year and i've mastered hiragana, katakana, and a few kanji. Hope i'll be able to learn alot from this site :)

The thing with learning a new language is you really need a passion for it. If you commit time every single day. ( no cheat days, no days off ), you can master 600-700 kanji in a few months. With that many kanji under your belt, as well as hiragana and katakana you should, theoritically be able to read Japanese quite well in under a year. Keep in mind, like I said this only applies to people who really commit to learning the language. GL to you and hopefully you will be reading Japanese soon enough.
Welcome, be sure to use a lot of resources in conjunction with each other so you don't get burned out and to help mix it up.
