I'm having a little trouble in Vocabulary Lesson Chapter 3.

The word is がっこう and I haven't been able to make the sound work on this site to be able to hear it. I've been pronouncing it "Gatsukou" but when I researched on this word I found that it's actually "Gakkou".

Why question is why is it "Gakkou"? I know:

が = ga
っ = tsu
こ = ko
う = u

But "Gatsukou" is incorrect. Could someone please explain in detail why it is "Gakkou" instead of "Gatsukou"?

    chisai-tsu (little tsu) is used like a "pause" between the symbols to express the double "k" from "ko" in "gakkou" がっこう。。。something like that.

    Thanks, I want to test my knowledge at least once.

    I made few mistakes.

    And thanks again for the help, I'm actually reading more things correctly now. And thanks to your reply I know my weaknesses.

    Thanks, again.
