    What bakaz said is correct, though many of the younger crowd shorten it down to just:
    あけおめ
    I guess it takes less time to IM it to all your friends that way :P

    Also, if you're interested... another thing you can say is:
    ことしもよろしくおねがいします
    Again, this can be abbreviated to the much shorter:
    ことよろ
    Adding it all together gives you:
    あけましておめでとうございます。ことしもよろしくおねがいします。
    But it's much quicker to say:
    あけおめことよろ。
    Which is equivalent to something like:
    "Happy New Year! I wish you all the best for this year."

    よいおとしを should meen something like "I wish you a good year." and is rather informal, I think. You can say that also after あけましておめでとう although the "standard phrace" is "あげましておめでとう(ございます)。ことしもよろしく(おねがいします)." like KillerCars wrote.
