  Get an idea of kanji and learn some of the basics. It is important to follow the stroke order to remember them, and listening + speaking is very important. If you're a beginner, start with hiragana first (important), then katakana.

  While you're at it, you need to learn as many vocabulary as you can and learn the word structure.

  I don't see many people talking about it here, but the best method for me is Remembering the Kanji + kanji.koohii.com (a website designed for those who are studying with the book). It will only teach you the meaning of the kanji, and not readings/compounds, but after you learn the meanings, it gets a lot easier to learn the rest (and you will probably never forget them, because of the method Heisig uses).

  i don' remember kanji just words with them in it and if the word is one kanji ill still learn it. i do this because if you see a new word with kanji you still would not be able to deduce the pronunciation because kanji has multiple kun and on readings

  Kanjidamage uses the same method heisig does, but with swearwords... It's even more unforgettable
