How competent should I be if I finish everything here?

This site is just vocabulary and Kanji, so you'll be able to get a general idea of what's being said, but if you really want to be able to communicate clearly, I'd do some grammar work. Tae Kim's Guide to Japanese is good.

I also used Memrise's Intro to Japanese and Basic Japanese courses for basic grammar.

I also recommend Tae Kim's. While learning grammar you also learn some every day kanji.
