It's always super helpful to start with a goal, so I suggest learning Hiragana and Katakana first. Everything was confusing for me until I learned them both. I still do not know a single Kanji, however. I figure I can pick that up a bit later. A good site to learn Hiragana and Katakana on is Memrise, however, it won't teach you Dakuten or Handakuten, which is the kana with what might look like a " or a dot over the kana. But once you learn that か is ka it's easier to learn that が is ga. See what I mean? Good luck in your studies, I hope things go well for you.
