Hey i'm still new to Japanese but someone asked me 日本語を話すか。and i got the Japanese(日本語) and the to speak(話す) but i don't think i have seen を used before i might have but i cant remember lol so could someone tell me what its used for in the sentence お願いします

    を is used to indicate the direct object of your verb.

    I don't know if you've figured this out already or knew before posting, but that sentence means "Do (you) speak Japanese?". The reason the "you" is in parentheses is because the subject (you) isn't said in the sentence, it's implied from the outside.

    Maybe you already knew that.

    ya i knew they were asking if i could read/talk in Japanese what kinda made me make this post was i never used を before so i was wondering about that thanks to guga93 i know now.

    I think を is for when a noun is receiving an action? For example オレンジを食べる means I eat oranges. In that case the orange is being eaten and in this case the Japanese is being spoken? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

    を is the particle that tells what the object of the sentence is.

    yeah, RovkirHexus is correct; however, this is more of a casual way to ask someone. You may want to use the proper conjugation of ”話す”(hanasu): to speak (Dictionary form) when posing a question, for politeness! -----> 日本語を話しますか。(Nihongo wo hanashimasu ka?)
