Why some words in test without kanji, even when it possible to find many examples where Kanji is needed. For example なくなる (亡くなる)。This Kanji is pretty simple.

That kanji isn't taught until 6th grade in ES. It's not extremely difficult, but hardly common enough knowledge I'd demand it must be used over hiragana.
