Hello... Nice to meet you... I just start learning katakana and hiragana.. So, I still need some time to learn more and there's a question I feel bothered by it until now..
When is exactly that we must use hiragana or katakana for conversation? Is it up to us for use both katakana or hiragana? And how about our own name? Which one is better to use?
Btw, I'm so sorry if my English is suck.. I hope you can understand it.

Thanks.

Japanese uses Katakana for foreign words and Hiragana is used for native japanese words, particles, verb endings, and words that do not have a kanji.
Whenever you see something written in katakana, you can certainly assume it will be an foreign word. Your name should be written in katakana since it is foreign. Katanaka is also use for other words, like onomatopoeic words, but that is another story.

Thanks Legion.. Can I ask again?
Since U say that Hiragana use for word that don't have kanji, does it mean that we should use kanji if the word also have kanji?
Can we make our own kanji? I mean like we make our name into kanji..
    Is it possible?

Yes, you should use Kanji if the word has a Kanji. At the begging you can write the kanji pronunciation in hiragana since you are learning. When you become more proficient with the language and know the meaning of each kanji, you should use kanjis. The kanji itself will give you the meaning of what you are trying to say since there are kanjis that are pronounce the same.

No, you cannot make your name in Kanji. You can only write your name in Katakana.

Thanks again Legion.. Sorry for ask U again..
Does japanese also has past tense, ? Or future tense,, etc.
And can we use "kimi" for guy? What kind of condition is exactly the right time for use words like "omae", "anata", "anta", etc.
And why suffix -kun can also use for girl? Isn't it just for guy?
