I have a quick question, I am almost finished with Hiragana and Katakana, should I learn Kanji and Vocabulary separately or at the same time?

- I'd say go with both of them but keep Kanji lessons a little ahead. That will help you with Vocabulary a lot more.August 11, 2016 at 10:05am

- I'll just copy-paste my answer from a couple of days ago to a similar question since I'm a lazy fuck. Here you go:
Going with kanji first means you have to learn a lot of different readings and meanings (some of which are not even very common and will only confuse you) with which you then construct your vocabulary, this way you learn the parts and then construct the words. This works well if you have a good memory to memorise all the meanings and readings, it also requires you to have a good sense for the language to know if what you constructed makes sense.
Going with vocabulary first lets you learn words from the start without having to worry about other readings or meanings, after which you do the kanji lessons and deconstruct the words you learnt into their parts and expand the knowledge you have of each kanji, having already learnt it's "main" meaning.
I personally prefer practising vocabulary first without paying much attention to the kanji lessons because it's easier for me to learn lots of words in context than a bunch of random readings. I also find myself able to pick out the different readings of a kanji after a while when it appears in different words so it's not really necessary to learn all the readings and meanings at the start. Learning vocabulary lets you learn kanji at a good pace, in my opinion.
And if you do the "Practice" mode you will encounter kanji by themselves as well, so do just do "Practice" and select the answer you think is right. If you fail, learn from it. Fail a lot, learn a lot. After a while you should acquire a good sense for the language and be able to select the right answer even when a new kanji or word pops up.
It mostly depends on the person, I myself have shit for brains when it comes to memorisation so it's easier for me to just learn the word and notice the similarities and differences with other words that use the same kanji. It works for me, it may not work for everybody.August 11, 2016 at 8:15pm - i agree with felliVox method that going with vocabulary first. Especially the destructionAugust 11, 2016 at 8:58pm
