Hello. I just started learning kanji and I'm getting kind of overwhelmed. Is there some source that is good for beginners to begin learning kanji? There are many ways to say some of them of what I've seen, and it's kind of confusing. Should I check out some grammar books or websites first?

Hey, I totally recommend you to read Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese. It helped me a lot not to panic when it comes to the different ways of reading a kanji.

try to see images in them, it creates the link to your visual memory witch is a good way to kickstart your long term memory

people always recommend "remembering the kanji" to me, by Heisig. I haven't used it myself though, still at the basics.

RTK is seriously my bible that I live life by. I would recommend using it together with a normal textbook like Genki or something. I didn't start using RTK until I had already been studying for abut two years so maybe that's why I liked it so much. I'm not sure how it would be for absolute beginners.

Pick up "Remembering the Kanji" and use it with Kanji Koohii. Heisig expects you to spend 5+ minutes crafting your own mnemonic device for each kanji to help it stick but I'm busy so it's very helpful to have access to all the shared mnemonic devices on Kanji Koohii. Plus Kanji Koohii has a flashcard system that uses spaced repetition so it's good for reviewing too if you don't want to make your own cards or rely on Anki.
