How can I learn the hinagara characters faster?

Write them down like crazy. Both hiragana and katakana.

Being more specific, what helped me memorize them was printing the character sheet and filling two rows early morning and at night and also writing in any blank page some common japanese words (or foreign words in Katakana). In about four days I had memorized them all and along with that memorized plenty japanese words. Along with that, after starting the kanji lessons, I also reviewed them regularly until I was completely sure I could read and write them just fine.
