First you should start with learn is hiragana and katakana after that you should be able to read both hiragana and katakana but reading I mean like すし(sushi) next thing would kanji, now kanji can get a bit difficult because it can have two or three(sometimes more it depends) means and also two reads but for now focuse on learn hiragana and katakana so you will able to read them both then we can get kanji little bit later :)
