【ギャラリー】「ウォーキング・デッド」のニーガン殺戮ショー、TVとコミックの比較コミックの第100話。間もなく殺戮ショーを始めるニーガンは犠牲者を選定する。（ネタバレ注意！）TVドラマ シーズン7 第1話。ニーガンは「どちら（どれ）にしようかな」を一人で楽しむ。ここは、最初に選んだ人物の違いを除いてコミック版とほぼ同じだ。コミックでグレンが指名される。一方、TVで最初に選ばれるのはグレンではない。代わりにエイブラハムが呼ばれる。ニーガンは彼を「ビッグ・レッド」と呼び、有刺鉄線の先でその顔を触る。エイブラハムとグレンが切り替わっているが、ニーガンのセリフはどちらのバージョンでも同じだ。殺人シーンを見る視点が異なる。TVの視聴者はリックの目を通して一部始終を見守る。TVと比べて、コミックでは最初の犠牲者が殴られるまでの描写が簡潔だ。また、グレンの「Please don't（しないで）」はTVではリックがニーガンにカールの腕の切断を強要された時のセリフになっている。コミックのグレンと違って、TVのエイブラハムは減らず口を叩く。「Taking it like a champ（肝が据わっている）」とニーガンに言われるのはグレンではなく、エイブラハムになる。しかしTVでは、エイブラハムは唯一の犠牲者ではない。エイブラハムが息絶えた後、ダリルはニーガンを攻撃するが、ニーガンは別の人物――グレン――を2人目のいけにえに指名する。コミックで見るに堪えない形で惨殺されるグレンは、TVでもショッキングな殺され方をしている。この顔をクローズアップで見ると、コミックのグレンの顔と瓜二つだということが分かる。主役は目玉。ニーガンの粗野な発言はまたもやコミックとTVで一致する。しかも逐語的に。コミックと同様、ニーガンに殴られたグレンはマギーの名を叫ぶ。この挙動はニーガンに自分が「正しい」選択をしたことを知らせてしまう。つまり、リック一行に対してその死が重大な損失になるような人を「正しく」殺害できた、ということだ。カットアウェイの技法で所々挿入されるニーガンとマギー、他の生還者の顔や姿など、TVでは殺戮シーンがずいぶん長引いている。「Lucille is a vampire bat（ルシールはヴァンパイア・バットだ）」というブラックジョークもコミックからきている。（※注：Vampire batは本来「吸血コウモリ」という意味だが、ここでは棍棒のバットとかけている。）謝ってはいるものの、ニーガンはグレンの死を利用して自分が「約束」を守る男だと証明する。衝撃的な殺害の後、ニーガンは悠然と立ち去る。コミックと同じ「Ta ta（Bye byeの幼児バージョン）」を言いながら。コミック同様、TVもこのグッバイシーンを俯瞰視点で見せる。ニーガンは1週間後に物資を回収に行くと一方的にリックたちに告げる。TVの視聴者も、コミックの読者も、気持ち悪さを噛み締めながらただ呆然と殺人鬼を見送る。原作のコミックに忠実なこのTVのエピソードは、誰にとってもしつこい悪夢のようにしばらく忘れられないものになるだろう。リック一行は惨たらしい打撃を受けたが、破壊されてはいない。新たな仲間が現れて彼らをニーガンの残虐非道な鉄血統治から救い出すことを祈ろう。
