<p>RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Anthony Ervin of the United States became the oldest swimmer to win an individual Olympic event when he claimed gold in the 50m freestyle at the Rio Games on Friday.</p>
<p>The 35-year-old finished in 21.40 seconds, just one hundredth of a second ahead of defending <a href="http://www.championtw.com/p/champion-bags-a5a693a2/">Champion 甯嗗竷琚?/a>鍜孋hampion Florent Manaudou of France.</p>
<p>Nathan Adrian of the United States took bronze at Rio's Olympic Aquatics Stadium in 21.49 seconds.</p>
<p>It was the USA's 14th swimming gold medal of the Rio Games. </p>
