Anybody else have those one or two words you just can't learn the reading for to save your life? Or am I just an idiot?
I've encountered 伝言 ~35 times now, and every time I see it, it's still about a fifty-fifty shot. I always narrow it down to either でんごん or げんごん, but it's pretty much luck as to which one I choose after that. For whatever reason my brain refuses to accept that the reading is でんごん. Afaik, げんごん isn't even a word, but it seems like such an attractive option every time the word comes up!

Yes actually that does happen to me. I have a little notebook and keep track of those words and review them every day.
It happens to me too. I think it is natural for learners of a language that you have some words that are more difficult to learn than other words. It is a good idea to note those words down like wigglysquire said.
It happens to me. Also I have a problem with 種類. Sometimes appears as tanerui and others as shurui, but nearly all the times I fail. I wrote in some japanese inputs しゅるい and たねるい and both are kanjied as 種類.
