Hi, could anyone please explain this to me?

Why is お土産 read as おみやげ、when the kanji used have completely different readings when i look them up separately in the dictionary?

well that is just how japanese work, it's like an unspoken rule of this language, 1 kanji can have 5 differences way to read it depend on the meaning of the word it attach to, if you want to read well you need to remember the kanji meaning

no idea, wikipedia just says it's had a special reading since the Muromachi period (1333-1573 CE)
i honestly thought that reading would be listed in dictionaries but it appears not. yet another reason to just not bother learning readings and just learn them passively from words, i guess.

Yes, Kanji Damage has the 'FP' tag for that: http://www.kanjidamage.com/tags/8

Yeah. I would advise against using KanjiDamage though, from person experience, I got past 1000 kanji and it wasn't a complete waste but I had to start again and just do normal RTK. It's causing me some difficulties even now though by the changing of keywords etc.
