  たぶん、英語で「double major」と言うことかな？ネットで分かりやすい意味さがせなかった。

  @jendrej ah no no worries, it’s actually my guess because the websites I found were often university pages. It would only mention the word once so I couldn’t gather too much from context clues. But I find knowing a word at surface level, you might find a more specific meaning/translation later and by then it’ll be easiest to remember.

  I've always just read it as 両 "both-" + 学部 "departments" (of a university). If correct, it explains why you won't find 両学部 in a dictionary. If it did/does mean "double major", I'd expect to find 両学部 in a dictionary.
  
  文学部 = department of 文学 (literature)
  法学部 = department of 法学 (jurisprudence)
  医学部 = department of 医学 (medical science)
  工学部 = department of 工学 (engineering)
  経済学部 = department of 経済学 (economics)
  
  I've always assumed 両学部 would be used for talking about two university departments together. So if you were talking about the literature and the engineering departments separately, but now you want to say something that applies to both of them, you could say 両学部 instead of saying 文学部と工学部.
  
  I could be complelety wrong though. I might well be reading it too simplistically.
  
  I don't think I even know what "double major" in English means (nor even what "major" means exactly for that matter), lol. We don't really use the word "major" about degrees here in the UK. Having never been to university I barely understand any university related lingo. I probably wouldn't understand the English translation of 両学部 even if it had it, which is why I've never attempted to look up the translation. ^^;
