pak13.. go into search (or control panel) and go to region and language click the keyboards and languages tab, click the change keyboards button.. click add and search for japanese (japanese microsoft IME) microsoft IME is probibly by far the most common, especially for english users.. after setting that and applying it, you can either select japanese as your main keyboard, or on the task bar to the bottom right, there will be a keyboard icon (unless you changed your settings, then click language bar tab, and select the 'docked in the taskbar' option) click the EN and select JP japanese.. then you can either click the A to manually switch it to hiragana, or the default swap is alt ` (` being the button to the left of 1).. and as for kanji, when you press space while writing in hiragana it will open a small dropdown of all the possible kanji for what you typed, and press enter when you have the one you want (or just press enter with no space to keep the hiragana). to start out it's probibly better to type it word by word, pressing space find's kanji for you, pressing enter locks the word in.

What I do is press Alt+Shift to activate Japanese and then Alt+` to activate hiragana. Then all you need to do is press Alt+Shift to turn Japanese on and off.

that would work too, i just keep japanese keyboard on all the time, since there's not really any need for the american keyboard unless your trying to type spanish, french, or something else
