Can someone explain how the 近くbecome 近い (plain-form)?
駅から近いし、車でも来られるし、この店はとても便利です.

    近 + い = 'i-adjective'
    近 + く = adverb
    That's just how all 'i-adjectives' are used as adverbs.

    As for 'na-adjectives'...
    便利 + な = 'na-adjective'
    便利 + に = adverb
