Nah, I wouldn't say I'm all that good at it still. Only been at it for a little over a year at this point. As for how I started? I just tried memorizing the hiragana and katakana every single day for about a month. With that, I started learning a few words here and there while trying to memorize the kanji characters, how they're used and their general meanings.
Nah. I can read a few things fluently but a lot of kanji characters still trick me here and there. I'd say I'm like a elementary student in terms of reading. And this site is probably the best overall for learning but there's always other sources that can do some things better than here. Such as I used http://www.realkana.com/ for starting the kana memorization.
