I have a question!
Do you guys recommend starting with vocabulary or Kanji first? Or should I just randomly pick one? Thank you :3

- Have you already finished learning all your Kana? If you want to learn how to read, I suggest you learn Kanji + grammar on another site. If you want to learn how to speak, go with vocabulary.June 8, 2014 at 11:16am
- You can always mix your learning around by switching if you're tired of one. For example, if you're tired of learning kanji for a bit, going to vocabulary is a nice change of pace.June 8, 2014 at 11:17am
- Yes, I've learned all of my Kana. I don't see how you can start learning Japanese without it. It seems kind of essential...
And ahh, I see. I really would like to learn how to do both but I don't really prefer moving onto another site. So I guess I'll start
with vocabulary.
Domo arigato! (yes, romaji because I don't have a Japanese keyboard)June 8, 2014 at 11:23am - I've only started going back to learning japanese again and this site really changed. I was really surprised at first but I dont think grammar is found here. I'll just tell you about lingualift and its 2-week trial (yes they ask for payment, but I guess it's worth it).June 8, 2014 at 11:27am
- I got to around level 3 or level 4 (I forgot my old account) before trying out the 2-week trial so I pretty much got a lot from the site. But then again, it's up to you to decide on how to approach learning japanese. :)June 8, 2014 at 11:30am
- oh yeah one more thing (im being annoying, sorry), when doing practice or taking the tests for lessons, you can press the question marks in the answer log(?) to find out more about the kanjis that showed up. it really helps you in trying to learn both kanji and vocab.June 8, 2014 at 11:38am
- Okay, thank you so much! Especially the last comment. I love when people are informative and you've exceeded what I wanted. Which is perfect. And depending if my mom will let me (and by that, I mean pay for me, because I am a child and I don't have money xD) I'll definitely try out LinguaLift. Do you recommend it?June 8, 2014 at 11:57am
- Slightly off-topic, but if you run Windows 7 or higher a Japanese keyboard IME is included in the OS. Just go to your control panel and select language, add Japanese, and you should be able to switch with the CTRL+SPACE hotkey.June 8, 2014 at 12:26pm
- I do recommend lingualift, the 2week trial gives you so much. I haven't paid for a real subscription on it since I'm thinking it got me so far that I can continue learning down here in JCJP at a better paceJune 8, 2014 at 3:21pm
- @Sayaki The vocabulary has English questions or English answers. This is a good place to start if you already mastered hiragana and katakana.June 9, 2014 at 1:15am
