長い間の苦心がわずかなしくじりでめちゃめちゃになってしまうことのたとえ。
I'm not sure the origin but, I can guess from the literally that a great preacher preaches people in 100 days but if he/she farts, people do not respect him/her. かな?June 10, 2014 at 12:47pm - That's a funny saying. I thought the meaning was like that, but I wasn't completely sure. You explained it very well. Thanks. I guess whatever time that saying originated from, people still though farting was funny back then. ^^
I had thought there was a chance that possibly the meaning might have been: Person preaches for 100 days because he/she farted once. -- This would not make much sense though. I guess the word order also suggests that this meaning is not the correct one.June 10, 2014 at 2:52pm
