Hey guys, I don't know where to report errors but i did notice this. The kanji for kirei is wrong (or rather just unused by most). while normally written in kana, the kanji use by most Japanese novelists i have seen so far is 奇麗→綺麗

I checked it in a dictionary, there are two kanji there, but we usually use 綺麗.
actually, it's hard to write so we often use きれい 笑

thank you for the confirmation @mogmog, and thank you for the report @Sigh.
I just changed it to 綺麗.

So, 綺麗 is more commonly used than 奇麗? It seems like 奇麗 is listed first in most dictionaries, but I think the listing order isn't based on which one is more common--misleading though. :P

This wikitionary page appears to agree with you anyway, it redirects to 綺麗, and it lists 奇麗 as an 'alternative form':

Hmm, is there any way to post links which contain Japanese characters in the address?

    きれい1【綺麗・奇麗】
This is from a dictionary. Yes, believe me, I often see the kanji 綺麗, but not 奇麗. And, most people use it "きれい" in Hiragana, because it's complicated kanji lol

Actually, I’ve never seen 奇麗 before.

I was wondering if 奇麗 was really used much at all. From that wikitionary link, it looks like Chinese uses 綺麗 too. So if 綺麗 is probably the original way to write it, I wonder why 奇麗 came to be used too. Easier to write? Slightly different nuance?

Actually, 奇麗 and 綺麗 are the same. I can't feel the different nuance.

Some Japanese are talking about this topic in Japanese.
I don't think their comments are reliable, but you can judge their opinions.

Ah, that 当用漢字 thing sounds like a good explanation. I hadn't even thought about that being the reason. Thanks for the link! :)
