Hello, I would like to ask about the ~し grammar. - Feed Post by tim0308

Hello,

I would like to ask about the ~し grammar.

駅から近いし、安いし、この家を買いたいです。

Is the "から" here correct? My teacher said the idea is right but the I haven't learn the right grammar to express it yet.

Thank you.(^ ^)

"When you want to list reasons for multiple states or actions you can do so by adding 「し」 to the end of each relative clause. It is very similar to the 「や」 particle except that it lists reasons for verbs and state-of-being."

Direct quote from the best website for japanese grammar that ever existed, http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar . I learned basically all my grammar from there. Until this site adds learning grammar as a feature, i'm gonna stick to reading this. In fact, im gonna go up top and repost this just so that everyone sees this website!

And yes, the から is correct. Imagine if you were that person looking at buying a house, and you wanted to say it was close to the station. What would you say? Just 近い? But then your listener wouldn't know what it was close to, so you use から to say what.

    I hope that helped!
