don't know how new you are to japanese, but you should definitely check this guide out (http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar) ~ really simple, and it covers all the essentials there is to japanese :)
it's a big guide, but by the time you're done with that, you should have a solid vocabulary and understanding (^.~)
