I'm having a little trouble with the word おなかが痛い.

I researched this word, and it doesn't seem to exist as "onakagaitai". This word is located in Vocabulary LV.2 Chapter 2.

I've researched and found 4 words:

ふくつう

はらいた

いつう

おなかをこわす

The common word is suppose to be ふくつう. Could someone tell me if this the right word for stomach ache instead of おなかが痛い?

    it's actually a sentence: onaka ga itai.

    Thanks, that explains a little. I thought it was a single word when I researched so I ignored the obvious.

    As I move forward through the lessons I'll keep things like that in mind, that it could be a sentence.

    Thanks again for your help, and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.

    No worries. Since it's all scrunched together like that, it's easy to miss that it's a sentence, especially because the "common" translation would reduce it to a single word.

    onaka = inside (stomach)
    ga = a particle
    itai = pain

    Thanks HayashiNarumi, I wouldn't have broken the sentence up to learn the individual meaning.

    I'll remember them.

    Thanks again for helping out, I really appreciate it.

    On the other hand, 腹痛 (ふくつう) is a single word (a noun). If you wanted to say something descriptive about a stomachache, you'd probably need to use 腹痛 (ふくつう) instead. Like "bad stomachache", using the adjective ひどい (cruel, terrible, awful. bad), would be something like ひどい腹痛.

    Thanks mog86uk, I'll keep that in mind for ふくつう.

    I'll try to remember your advice on that word, and when it should be used.

    Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it
