I always wondered why immigration office is pronounced so shortly while in romaji it's written so long. Actually turned out it's pronounced incorrectly. When I'm asked for it they just pronounce it "nyukan" instead of "nyukokukanrikyoku".Is this a bug or is there some kind of rule to it? D:

入管(nyukan) is immigration bureau, while 入国管理局(nyuukokukanrikyoku) immigration control department. Admittedly I'm not sure if there is some rule for it, but I'm fairly sure that it's just being shortened for ease of speech seeing as the two words mean almost the same thing.

That explains all. Just wondered since they're both written the same in romaji but pronounced differently xD It's quite confusing hearing 入国管理局 being pronounced like (nyukan) :s
