how can I change my laptop's keyboard settings to japanese? it's really hard copy then pasting each character just to talk to my japanese friend

start > control panel > clock, language, and region > change display language > change keyboards > add > click on the language you want to add and add it. You can switch between languages using the language bar (:
Get "Google Japanese Input". It is very simple to download and install, and it's better for beginners than Microsoft's one that comes with Windows. Once it has downloaded it then installs automatically and will appear on your language bar. Very easy. ^^
