Wish I could test this, but I only had 4 Oblivion items at the start of today...
I'm interested in whether if it happens for me and if it affects all browsers. I think I'll have to answer a load of questions on another account later tonight, so that in 30 days I'll be able to see too. :P

What's an oblivion list?- @grassosan A list of Lesson/Practice questions which you've answered before but you haven't answered [correctly(?)] in the last 30 days. You will see what we mean in 29 days! :P
I might have a go at answering every question tonight, to ensure I have as many questions in my Oblivion list as possible in 30 days time. Gonna grab a coffee then start in a couple of minutes... ^^- Lol. Reached level 6 (97k EXP) in less than 80 minutes, answering 1,524 questions and getting 3 wrong. Problem is, out of 3,209 questions on the site, I still have 2,459 questions marked "New"! Maybe I sould back down from what I said in my previous post... :P

- Haha, I just find these things interesting. However it doesn't usually help much since I can't do anything about the problem once I figure out what it is, other than report it... (although I guess I was able to do something about Chat, to at least get it working again...)
- Also, I've now reached what should be Level 7 (170k EXP)! :P
Had Practice set to everything except "show kana", so encouters have been completely randomised the whole time. Answered exactly 2,400 questions, still only 3 questions answered incorrectly (not looking up any answers at all).
I still have 2,118 questions marked "New". Not even done half the questions on the site yet, however I already have one of the questions I answered wrong at "28 correct : 1 wrong"! My username won't be true very soon... ;_;

I don't have an oblivion list today so I can't really remember but doesn't it try to load the whole thing when you click on it? It might be that it just times out if you have so many.- @MintyHippo I only have 100 entries in my Oblivion List each day, but that's probably more than everyone else combined. ;)
- @kekkou Oblivion page doesn't always have the loading problem for you does it? Are you sure the times when Oblivion won't aren't just times like right now, where the site has slowed down?
Practice is very slow at this moment. Once the site crashes and reloads instantly (with the online user's list going berserk), then the site will be fast again. And you may be more likely to get onto your oblivion page? ^^ - Always in the morning before lunch, local time (11 am, UTC -08:00 or GMT -08:00). Every time it happens, the rest of the site is working normally.
Readings are also super slow right now. - Think the site just reloaded. Try it now while it's still running fast! ^^
- 100 is definitely not too many, I've had ~250 and never had the problem so my theory is out the window, oh well.

Currently sitting at 976 oblivion items... I used to have an issue where if I tried to quiz just on kanji oblivion items it would go straight to "your oblivion list has been cleared" but it seems to be working okay now for vocab and kanji now.- @mog86uk @MintyHippo This morning, it only took four reloads/refreshes to load the Oblivion list.
- Discovered something very interesting.
On another account I have, it currently has: Oblivion = 4 (1 vocab, 3 kanji) and New = 278 (170 vocab, 108 kanji). It wouldn't load either Oblivion or New on that account, no matter how many times -- it always sends the request to the server, then waits doing nothing at all until the server replies, but the server takes longer than the limit of 60 seconds to process the request so the server gives up and shows the 503 error page instead. (The server taking more than 60 seconds is the issue, which I thought was the problem. There is no data being sent or received, which is why I said it makes no difference how fast the user's internet connection is.)
Anyway, here's the interesting part:
I had an idea related to the fact that the Oblivion/New/Weak links under "TO DO" all link to the vocabulary page for each one, like:

The vocabulary pages do not load, however the KANJI pages do!!

http://japaneseclass.jp/lessons/weak/kanji - So, after trying multiple times on both Chrome and Firefox getting the same results each time...
Oblivion vocabulary (1 item) = doesn't load (server takes >60s)
New vocabulary (170 items) = doesn't load (server takes >60s)
Weak vocabulary (0 items) = loads instantly! (because has no items?)
Oblivion kanji (3 items) = loads instantly (has more than vocab!)
New kanji (108 items) = loads instantly (even with lots of items)
Weak kanji (0 items) = loads instantly
...And with mog_0XPjanai, which currently has 1,529 "New" items:
New vocabulary (728 items) = doesn't load (server takes >60s)
New kanji (801 items) = loads after a couple of seconds
Seems like there's definitely some issue with vocabulary then. How about when you guys try it? - @beeant, please re-direct all Oblivion/Weak/New list links in the left frame of the JCJP site (mentioned above by @mog86uk) to their respective kanji pages (oblivion to Oblivion Kanji, Weak to Weak Kanji and New to New Kanji).
@mog86uk I also encounter the error page every morning.
I will test the http://japaneseclass.jp/lessons/oblivion/kanji link tomorrow.

Maybe Beeant has fixed this problem already? I didn't see him logged in, but I've often wondered if maybe Beeant checks the site not logged in and is actually on here more than it appears?? ^^ - Working perfectly on the other account I mentioned too, for both New and Oblivion!
I guess it's still possible this loading problem might be caused by an external resource which vocabulary listing depends on (which may just be functioning correctly at this moment in time, but is still unreliable and temperamental). Won't know for sure if this has been fixed unless Beeant says something about it. ^^; - @mog (test) That is actually not the case for me. Once you are finally able to load the New/Weak/Oblivion pages, the problem disappears UNTIL midnight Japan Time. Then, the problem resurfaces.
It took 1 hour for me to reach Today's Top 20, so we'll see if I can stay there. ;p - That's strange, because all at the same time, all three pages which weren't loading are now loading. That's on two different accounts and two different browsers (this one logged in on Chrome, the other one on Firefox).
I can kind of see, that because I was at 728 "New" vocabulary items earlier and it's less now at 524 items, maybe this affected it. However I haven't answered anything at all with my other account. So it's weird both these accounts have no problem now but yours still can't load Oblivion vocabulary... - @mog (test account) no no. Okay, let me explain in chronological order.
Thursday 11 am USA time - Attempt to open Oblivion page fails 3 times. 4th time opens the Oblivion page normally.
Saturday 12 am Japan Time (Friday 7 am USA Time) - The JCJP server sets Saturday's EXPs to zero. Loading the Oblivion list page requires multiple refreshes/reloads.
In summary, the problem returns EVERY day at 12 am Japan Time. If you check tomorrow, you will again have a hard time loading the Oblivion/Weak/New list pages. - Hmm. That's kind of hard to analyse.
At Japan midnight is also the only time when new items are added to the Oblivion list. So at that time your Oblivion may have just had a couple of hundred items added to it, which could make it less likely to load again.
I can kind of understand that once the page loads successfully for the first time of a new day, that it will now load successfully unil Japan midnight. Maybe the data gets cached on the server once it has loaded, so the next time the user views the Oblivion page it doesn't have to do so much work as most of the information needed has already been saved.
It probably has to build the page again each new day, but throughout the day, if you answer questions, then it simply removes those items from the cached page file. (So it still loads quickly and successfully even if the page has changed throughout the day.)
However, going back to what happened earlier with the two vocabulary pages on my other account and the one vocabulary page on this account... I tried lots of times to load these pages earlier and none of them loaded... THEN, this recent time I tried, it loaded all three of them in a row!
So all those pages suddenly loading successfully in a row like that must just have been a crazy coincidence? And you tried it again too but oblivion vocabulary still didn't load for you (and still won't load)? - @mog86uk Stupid me ... you asked me the same question twice today, and I never answered back. *sighs*
The Oblivion list DOES load normally every morning (6 hours have passed since I CLEARED my Oblivion list). I tried it again in the afternoon too, and the oblivion vocabulary DOES load for me.
Once my Oblivion list loads normally, it will load every time UNTIL midnight JapanTime. - Ah, okay. :)
Well anyway, it turns out part of that theory is wrong!...
Before my last post, I was able to load my "New" vocabulary page (524 items) on this account. Then I answered another question in Practice, bringing my "New" vocabulary down to 523 items, and again it loaded instantly. And I had loaded it a few more times since, successful evert time...
Now, after that last post, it will no longer load the "New" vocabulary page (server takes longer than the 60s limit)!! I haven't answered a single question of any type since the last time it loaded successfully (still 523 items)! Tried it a few times, but once again it is only the kanji page which will load successfully now...
So that ruins most of what I thougght in the previous post. :P - Turns out the site itself was running slow a minute ago. Now that it has crashed and reloaded it's running fast again...
And now it's running fast, the "New" vocabulary page is loading perfectly fine again!!! This seems to be highly linked to what speed the server is running at... - @beeant Sorry about all the replies in this post.
@mog (test account) Well, that's interesting. I guess only @beeant can figure this out. It seems the cause may be in the server cache,as you mentioned. @beeant is checking his Facebook account regularly, so we shall see if he can find a fix for this issue. - @beeant @mog (test account) My Oblivion vocabulary loaded normally this morning. I will see if it loads normally in the afternoon.

- @beeant @mog (test account) No problems loading the Oblivion Vocabulary list today. I loaded it 5 times, and it instantly loaded four times, and only took a few seconds to load the 5th time. :)
- @beeant @mog (test account) The page sometimes loads normally, or does not load at all. Once the issue is resolved for 24 hours, I will post a reply here.
- @beeant @mog (test account) I believe the Oblivion list seems to be back to normal, but the issue may return at any time.
The vocabulary page loaded five times in a row yesterday morning USA time, five times last night USA time, and five times this morning USA time. Thanks. :)
