I'm so tired of these BS Kanji lessons! They teach you a Kanji and in the test it's mixed with 2 other Kanji you've never seen before with a different pronunciation and I'm supposed to know them?? Do you have to be psychic to pass a test here? this is BS :(

- Sure the Kanji combinations aren't explained in the examples?March 21, 2015 at 7:31pm
- Yea I'm on chapter 15 where they talk about prefectures, wards and cities. They give no examples and then during the test asks different prefectures like Shinjuku, Chiba etc. all in Kanji I've never seen before. I'm raging so hard right now! >.>
This isn't even the first time this happens it's like every other test they trow random Kanji you've never seen for the lulzMarch 21, 2015 at 7:36pm - Shinjuku isnt prefecture :DMarch 21, 2015 at 8:00pm
- I just did the Kanji 15 test and you might be right, there might be a question or two with previously unknown Kanji in them. Nevertheless, you should be able to pass the test.
If you don't, you should maybe review and memorize the readings of the previously learned Kanji again before reattempting.March 21, 2015 at 8:04pm - A tip that I can give you is that Kanji with same left side often carry the same reading (in compounds), but if you never seen the Kanji that is not helpful. Then you are just going to have learn by trial and error.
On side note, radicals are helpful deciphering the meaning a Kanji. I would recommend learning some of them, because they are really useful.
I learned both tips of those from my Japanese Group, but there is book that talks about it called "Teach Yourself Beginner's Japanese Script".March 21, 2015 at 8:43pm - I've been thinking that as well... I'm at lesson 19 and the kanji 開 and 閉 can be pronounced in so many ways! How am I to guess which one is correct in this particular instance?
And I also remember the prefecture/ward lesson... Trial and error was what got me through that one. Also a totally legit way of learning, but still...
Oh, but really good tip with the radicals! Im going to look into that! Cool!March 21, 2015 at 9:02pm - Yea thanks for the tip, I still don't get all the wards and prefectures and cities and regions, I think my head is going to explode...@_@March 21, 2015 at 9:58pm
- and I really hate trial and error because I feel like I'm not learning anything, just taking the test 3 times in a row to pass and that's just cheating.
Of course you'll remember the answers if you take the test 3 times in a row...March 21, 2015 at 9:59pm - So take it once, if you don't ace it, leave it aside for a day. Take it again then, when it's not so easy for you to recall.March 23, 2015 at 1:43pm
