- No. If you want to. I know the kanji for many things even my JHS students or SHS students don't know. It depends on what you want to learn. I've also memorized all the prefectural flags of Japan. Wheee! Things that will do me no good!June 12, 2015 at 7:43pm
- I've almost never seen them. I think there only use even is legal documents? So maybe if you're a law student :PJune 12, 2015 at 8:55pm
- You encounter all of them in the vocabulary lessons on here anyway, lol.
Like two of them, the ones for あれ and これ are both used in this one word found within the lessons:
彼方此方 (あちこち) "here and there"
Hopefully you would already have learnt 彼 since it is a really common kanji used for the pronoun かれ "he".
此 isn't in the common use kanji list, but it isn't extremely rare either. It is also used within two kanji which are in the common use list:
紫 (むらさき) "purple" (此 "this" + 糸 "thread")"THIS thread"
雌 (め) "female" (此 "this" + 隹 "bird") "this chick!!"
And for a word encountered in the vocabulary lessons where you will find the kanji それ:
其の儘 (そのまま) "as it is, without change"
That second kanji in that word is a lot more crazy rare than 其 (それ), lol. 其 isn't one of the 2,136 kanji in the common use list either, but it is still worth knowing about since it used as a component within 6 kanji that are in the common use list.
Of course, don't ever use them to write これ, それ, あれ, どれ or waste time trying hard to memorise their kanji, but you might as well spend just a few minutes finding out about them. ^^June 16, 2015 at 9:31am
