- Sometimes Onyomi Kanji readings can be so close to the Chinese readings, I find it can be helpful but also confusing at the same time. Any suggestions for keeping them clearly separate? 謝謝您June 15, 2015 at 2:24am
- I've only learned Japanese language for maximum a full month only. I have not really found a specific and stable rule for the pronunciation.
I only notice something might be of interest. You know unlike kunyomi, the Onyomi usually have one onyomi sound, so they'll be repeated in the combinations of words. Also, some onyomi have an extra く sound than Mandarin pronunciation, like 国 and this ん sound too. Maybe う sound, also (unsure though). I can't remember very well since I've not touched Japanese learning for more than a month. After all, I think く is used a lot in Japanese pronunciation.
If you found any useful rules, let me know. Thanks a lot.June 15, 2015 at 7:31pm - Onyomi only usually have one sound? Huh... maybe when you first start out?June 16, 2015 at 8:24am
- Your comments are the sort I do not wish to see in social feeds. If you are here to make yourself sound knowledgeable, then you either comment more constructively and knowledgeably, or don't say anything at all. I don't find I learned anything practical at all from your comments.
You speak English, I would like to assume that you understood what I wrote, and what "usually" means?! Even people more experienced in Japanease language, oh, btw the teachers I had said similar things. I don't care and don't count how many onyomi a character might have, the typical onyomi are more likely to be repeated. And yeah well, they hell did! What I noticed and summerised has been helping me to memorise the pronunciations.
Since you've studied Japanese for much more than 6 years, why don't you elaborate something valuable for the others to learn?! This guy Adamour is asking "Sometimes Onyomi Kanji readings can be so close to the Chinese readings, I find it can be helpful but also confusing at the same time. Any suggestions for keeping them clearly separate?" Let's hear what you have to say about it then ;) oh, it could be just a general Japanese pronunciation advice or just anything for everybody too if you don't know the answer to his question. ;) We'd all appereciate it! ;)
Now, will you excuse me, I have more rewarding things to do if nothing informative and useful in here.
@Adamour, I noticed also き used quite often for onyomi sound. Keeping them clearly separate, tough question. Sorry, I do not know, maybe Arachkid knows?! After all, I have a bunch of learning materials/courses that might be of help and interest to you if you want some. If not, no worries. Good luck!June 16, 2015 at 8:31pm - @Adamour, http://lingwiki.com/index.php?title=On_vs._Kun_readings. Might be of interest for your question.
Oh, btw, it seems that I didn't say it wrong after all as a total beginner. It says the same here "some characters only have one On reading." in this link.June 16, 2015 at 8:47pm - @MelancholicC Thanks very much for the article and advice!!! That article is really nice! I was wondering what 々 was... lol! Now I know that 人々 is just 人人 etc... Much appreciated :)June 17, 2015 at 12:01am
- @adamour, thanks for your reply. I can't say it's advice, but just something I've noticed and used in trying to remember Japanese pronunciations. Other than finding some info online, I myself have been trying to look for a pattern to facilitate memorisation too.
I think 々 is also used in the same way in simplied Chinese.
Good luck with everything! :)June 17, 2015 at 1:00am - Feel free to ignore my statement if you don't like it. I did not insult you, I made a statement of what my experience is. If you don't agree, just leave it at that if you want. Unless there's something in my message between the lines that you read as "you don't know what you're talking about", in which case I'm sorry you read it that way, it's not how it was meant. I will try not to make statements where you may be involved in the future so as not to hurt your feelings inadvertently. Have a good day.June 17, 2015 at 8:35am
- FYI: In logic, a statement is either (a) a meaningful declarative sentence that is either true or false, or (b) that which a true or false declarative sentence asserts. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statement_%28logic%29)
You didn't make any statement. Once again, you didn't say anything more informative and declarative other than questions and a "huh...". what your experience and good advices were exactly?! What you were trying to say exactly?! I still don't know! Whatever you were trying to say, just say it, directly, clearly and soundly. I'd be thankful for that.
And thanks for the clarification, I didn't know I supposed to read that inbetween your lines. ;) Good day and cheerio.June 17, 2015 at 5:09pm - hello
