Hi! I was wondering if someone could help me understand something. I just learned the sentence: にほんのおんがくにきょうみがあります。

I get everything except the particle に. Can someone tell me why に is used here, or what the significance is?

As far as I know, に marks the time or location of something. So, could someone please help me out?

Think about how the に particle can often be translated as "in", and then think about how you might translate it in this sentence. ;)

You could say that にほんのおんがく is the location of the きょうみ (where your interest is directed towards).

Not great ways of explaining this, and it's obviously more complicated than that, but maybe this helps? ^^

Ahh, I see. Thank you for helping. :)

Basically, it's used as a location marker. It designates the location of an object. In, on, at a certain time" etc...

Don't confuse with "で" though. Use Tae Kim!!!

It is often used for time as well. Such as "At 8?" はちじに
