    Depends on the topic, I guess. Pretty sure I couldn't talk about politics or the economy haha

    Give @mog86uk a try. He is well-versed in most or all elementary school Japanese in grades 1 through 6.

    The only way you'll learn how to speak in any language, not just Japanese, is to actually try to speak it over and over again. It's important to know some grammar and vocabulary, of course.

    I can hold a conversation on a variety of topics mostly because I've put myself in situations where I had to speak Japanese to be understood. My speaking didn't get good until I moved to Japan.

    @washoku, Why me? xD
    I doubt I could hold a conversation in Japanese. Reading Japanese and speaking it are two very different skills.

    Speaking Japanese is something I've never done at all. Writing sentences in Japanese is also something I never bothered to practice until fairly recently (Duolingo is now helping a lot with this). I wouldn't be able to get many thoughts across purely in Japanese due to lack of practicing these two skills.

    Listening isn't something I've practiced much either. I watched Japanese TV on my computer for a while, but I haven't managed to get it working for months now. I don't know how much of this skill I've really picked up listening to music and watching subtitled anime.

    Reading is the only skill I'm really any good at so far. Even this takes quite a bit of effort. My way of learning Japanese hasn't been very structured, just jumping all over the place to whatever I find interesting. Sure, I've learnt to recognise lots of kanji and their general meanings, and am not bad with the readings, but sentences can still be mind boggling at times.

    Thanks to all the things I've currently learnt, I could probably pick up the skills I'm weak at very quickly if I spent a few months in Japan. At the moment though I would struggle like crazy just trying to hold a basic conversation. :P

    theres an app called "HelloTalk" you could try out?? its free and basically you can chat/call native speakers of the language youre learning

    in return you help them with your native language and thats it
