You could have just checked an English dictionary before asking... Never heard of anything it is used for like "rapeseed oil"?
actual plant. it comes from the latin for "turnip", rapa, which still means turnip in italian.
I didn't look it up because I believed it was a typo rather than a real thing. But thanks for putting my ignorant self in my place, mog. Fuck off.- Yeah sorry. It did come across a bit rough the way I typed it. I put way too many smilies in my post and am trying to cut down, but this was a bad time to not use them. ^^;

- I normally pause for a while to type my posts to make sure they are constructive, but for this one I just typed it straight off the bat. I kind of deserved that reply for how my second sentence sounded. So it's okay. ^^
If I had spent longer dwelling over how I typed the post, I would have deleted the second sentence and probably have replaced it with a like to its reference on dictionary.com. But that first sentence would probably have stayed there. If I was actually meaning to be an ass about it, I would have said to check a British English dictionary. :D
