- lesson 47 test crashed my browser just now, will try different browser and on mobile.November 8, 2015 at 7:07am
- oh nevermind, works in Chrome on my desktop. seems Chrome on mobile and Firefox on desktop can't handle script or whatever runs the test.November 8, 2015 at 7:18am
- are you using Android? I just tried Firefox on desktop, and it works fine!November 8, 2015 at 7:30am
- I'm kind of confused exactly on which tests you were using which browsers, and after what specific moments the browsers crashed. From looking at your profile, it looks like you mean Vocabulary not Kanji. So something like this:
Vocabulary Chapter 46 test -- You were answering questions on the test, but at different points each time you tried the following browsers crash: Chrome on your mobile, Firefox on your desktop (but didn't try Chrome on your desktop). After the 5th attempt you decided to give up.
Vocabulary Chapter 47 test -- You were answering questions on the test, but Firefox on your desktop crashed before you were able to finish all the questions. Then you decided to try the same thing in Chrome on your desktop and this time you managed to complete this test without any problems.
Is that right?November 8, 2015 at 8:32am - I am using firefox on desktop and it is working fine too.November 8, 2015 at 8:33am
- Ah, forgive me, you are talking about the lesson 46, I am not there yet.November 8, 2015 at 8:36am
- I just did Vocab 46 and 47 tests in Google Chrome on my Android phone. Didn't have any problems or notice anything different about those tests.
(I can't believe I got a question wrong though... I clicked 飛ぶ for a question that started with "Jump ..." not reading what the rest of the question said. Now my score is -20 EXP.) xDNovember 8, 2015 at 8:56am - (Wait, why did I lose double EXP for a vocabulary question? [-10 EXP x2] I thought only kanji questions gave you double minus EXP?) >_>November 8, 2015 at 8:58am
- Yeah, a vocab test 46/47 was crashing few times on my android mobile (Chrome, I ditched all other browsers on my phone), then Firefox on my desktop crashed twice. Not a problem on Chrome. I am happy to use chrome for the tests.
I will clear cache, settings etc in browsers and report back. By the looks of it it's just me.November 8, 2015 at 7:35pm - resetting settings helped on mobile (chrome). no difference ewhen used desktop pc and firefox, browser still crashed (lession 49) just now. not a biggie - will use the site in Chrome on desktop pc.November 9, 2015 at 2:32am
- It is odd that you are having the problem on two different devices. I can only think the problem is one of the following:
・Browser is an old out-of-date version.
・Browser settings have been changed from their defaults.
・You have custom extensions, addons and plugins installed and maybe these are interfering.
・You have others apps or background programs running which are either interfering or making your device slow and unstable.
・Your device is old and struggles with displaying web pages in general.
・Your internet connection is dropping out or disconnecting frequently, which may be happening without you noticing. This temporary loss of connectivity half-way through the test would likely cause the question loading to time out and display an error message (this is unlikely to cause an actual "crash", but maybe). I had to put up with dodgy UK internet connectivity for many years, where things like the someone leaving a message on your phone or just the weather can cause your internet to keep disconnecting, so this seems very possible if where you live has a similar situation to what I had. (Of course, this would effect Chrome on your desktop too, but maybe you just happened to be lucky while using it.)
It's probably not that last one, as you're not having any problem with Chrome on your desktop. Maybe it is none of those things. However there is always some reason behind it. At least, so far, Chrome on your desktop is still working okay for you. ^^November 9, 2015 at 3:10am - all browsers are up to date, same as OS (CentOS 7), i reset settings. cleared cache etc. would not say there are other apps interfering but who knows? my hardware is 5 yrs old but it's still quad core with 6GB ram :) internet - BT infinity so it's supposed to be good (my PSN disconnects form time to time which never happened before even with sh!tty Sky broadband). tbh I can't remember whether there was a problem months ago when I did vocab test last time :P
let's leave it, probs not worth looking further, especially I do not do vocab / kanji tests too often :)November 9, 2015 at 4:48am
