@beeant Thank you for changing the point value (for all questions answered correctly 29 or more times) to 1 EXP.

- Yeah! When all our questions are 29 correct or higher, at least this 1 EXP will offsets the problem of ending up with minus EXP from doing Practice. This is very nice.
It also fixed the reset issue where the green up-arrow in the online users list stopped working for 0 EXP questions. Now we can see when people have answered questions that have gone past 29 correct.
However, I don't think this addresses the deaper issues with the EXP system. Such things like the problem caused by doing Lesson tests before you reach 29 correct -- you will still have to answer the same question 54~117 extra times (depending on level+type of question) in Practice to make up for the damage to your EXP earnings caused by doing taking the Lesson tests prematurely (not having x10 combo bonus when you answered it).
I tried to push for the EXP awarded to over 29 correct questions to be base EXP (6~13 EXP depending on level/type of question), with the combo bonus blocked for these questions. This would mean that if you answer a question in the Lesson test before you've reached 29 correct, then you would only have to answer that question 9 extra times (for any level+type of question) to recover the EXP you missed not having x10 combo bonus.
I know EXP isn't the main reason we're all here, but it's an important part of the motivating aspect of this site. I think my proposal should be enough to solve the issue where users feel the need to do weird things to prevent damage to EXP earning potential (having to keep switching Practice settings depending on current combo bonus; having to avoid taking Lesson tests until all questions are 29 correct or higher; ...). I don't think implementation of 1 EXP will have changed anything for this particular issue.December 1, 2015 at 6:23am - Sometimes I really wish I was much worse at maths, so that I could be blissfully oblivious to everything like this. ^^;December 1, 2015 at 6:24am
- * offsets --> offset
** reset --> recent
*** deaper --> deeper
(My English is continually getting worse, so maybe there's hope for my maths too!) ^^December 1, 2015 at 6:29am - @kekkou
You're welcome! :)
Thank mog86uk too, he convinced me do that change.
I'm still kind of skeptical to this change, because the correct answer limit is there to prevent abuse to repeatedly answer the same question over and over again for the sake of EXP points.
But ya, I think any action should be rewarded! ^^
December 3, 2015 at 2:03pm - @beeant, The ironic thing about what you said is, with the current situation of getting only 0 EXP or 1 EXP for >29 times correctly answered questions, we are actually ENCOURAGED to set the level to specific questions whenever we lose combo to do exactly that -- to repeat the level 1 questions "over and over again for the sake of EXP points" until we get back to 100 combo...
So the current system encourages us to repeat the same boring questions to avoid wasting any of our remaining 29 correct answers when not at x10 EXP combo bonus. If we received slightly more EXP (such as base EXP) on these questions, then I doubt anyone would feel it to be necessary to set Practice to specific levels whenever our combo is lower than 100 (and therefore, we wouldn't currently be repeating the same questions so often)...
Now that we've switched to SRS, I had planned never to use Practice level settings ever again. However, I forgot that I will still need to set my levels to 1~6 whenever I lose my combo, because if I don't do this, then I'll waste some of the 29 chances of my level 7 questions which still give normal EXP. I really wish I could just leave my levels set to 1~7 permanently, which would have been very nice with the SRS system, but mathematically this would do too much damage to my max EXP under a 0~1 EXP system. ^^;
I just hope regularly having to switch my level settings won't ruin my SRS too much.December 4, 2015 at 8:03am - ^ Just my honest feelings about the situation. It's not suposed to sound angry or anything, in case the way it is written looks that way.
I am very grateful for the change to 1 EXP. And I'm really enjoying the new SRS system regardless of these continuing tedious EXP cap problems. ^^December 4, 2015 at 8:04am - @beeant: Right now I'm not abusing the system but it abuses me. I answerd a question for more than 60 times now, and this in the course of roughly a week.
Any idea why the algorithm goes rampant there?December 5, 2015 at 4:19am - @A3agnos, it's still happening?? the current system abuses itself >.<
I will look into it after I finished preparing level 8 questions.December 5, 2015 at 4:33am - @A3agnos, I just made some little fix for over-repetition. Please let me know if the problem still occur. Thank you!December 5, 2015 at 4:59am
- Yes, it happend even after that.
I will keep an eye on it. Thanks again.December 5, 2015 at 5:12am - @A3agnos how about now >.<December 6, 2015 at 4:01am
