You should probably start by memorizing the hiragana and katakana.
Yes, starting with hiragana and katakana is a good idea, which this site also teaches you.
But since japaneseclass.jp does not teach you grammar you should learn grammar first.
You can start from learning hiragana & katakana (http://japaneseclass.jp/lessons/kana/hiragana/1)
Do the worksheet to help you memorize them. Also don't forget to do the Chapter Test.
