Hi, I`m using Firefox and Furigana Inserter isn`t available for my current version. (The supoort stopped with Firefox 40.0) Do you have any recommendations for Furigana addon`s? Rikaichan is quite neat, but I prefer translating on my own. So it`s not that helpful. Thanks in advance. :)

- I haven't really tried any furigana inserter addons, and I feel the same about Rikaichan too. I usually just copy-paste words I don't know into an online dictionary such as Denshi Jisho, or into an offline dictionary program such as Tagaini Jisho. ^^

However, although it's isn't an addon, but maybe the following website might help you for the time being until you find another addon. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like it should do what you want:

Hiragana is a nice one, but it didn`t worked for my website, haha. So I`ll need to go back to the translators. :DMay 14, 2016 at 4:49am

Do you mean this particular one? I haven't really checked out any non-English Japanese dictionaries before. But that dictionary has some nice features that most English ones don't have. I particularly like how they display pitch accent, and also like that they separate the constituent words within compounds.
I had another look for a furigana addons, but surprisingly it seems like Furigana Inserter is the only one for Firefox. I tried it too and it didn't work for me either in the current version.

On Chrome there is a good Furigana extension called "IPA furigana". I just tried this and it seems to work really well, and it has some nice options too. But I guess this doesn't help you for Firefox.May 14, 2016 at 7:17am - Hi,
I think it is advisable to install the latest version of Furigana injector.
Link to download the dictionary for Furigana insertor:
https://code.google.com/archive/p/itadaki/downloads (the penultimate link at the bottom). Decompress it to get the file "furiganainserter-dictionary .xpi" then in the Firefox bar: "about: config" "Enter".
Accept despite the warning, and will display a page with the browser hidden parameter.
Go to the line : "xpinstall.signatures.required"
and click on it to switch from "true" to "false"
Then load the dictionary in Firefox: "File" then "Open a file" and load furiganainserter-dictionary .xpi
Restart Firefox and normally engaged with Rikaichan the Furigana should appear.
Enjoy :-)
Aganeus, from ParisMay 14, 2016 at 7:18am - @Aganeus, Nice! It seems to be working perfectly for me now, using up-to-date version of Firefox, 46.0.1. No need for Rikaichan at all either—I don't even have it installed. I only have these two addons running and can confirm it works:
・ "Furigana Inserter 13"
・ "Dictionary for Furigana Inserter 1.2"
Not that I even use Firefox, and I don't want furigana either, but it's just cool to know Firefox still has a furigana extension somewhere. And hopefully ST1386 can get this working too now. Well done. ^^May 14, 2016 at 7:58am - I just remembered this today, in Rikaisama you can do this:
Tools menu > Rikaisama lookupbar > gear icon (configure) > dictionaries > tick "hide definitions".
The definitions should be gone after that, not sure if it works with regular Rikaichan.
I decided to see if Rikaikun (Rikaichan's Chrome version) can do this too, and it can.
Settings > Extensions > Rikaikun's options > tick "Hide definitions and show only reading".May 14, 2016 at 12:23pm - @Aganeus
Thank you very much for your research and the detailed information about how to get it started! :) I`ll try to install it as well! :)
@mog86uk
Glad to hear it worked for you! :) I hope it`ll work for me as well. :) That`s true, Wadoku has a few nice features and I feel in comparsion with Jisho there are more vocabularies for each word. German is quite complex so it`s good to have a nice overview of almost all possible translations which matches the search, it`s sometimes here just about a nuance.
@Ametrine
Thank you! I didn`t even know you can change the settings from Rikaichan! :D That might be helpful as well! I was thinking about switiching to Chrome as I used it anyway`s for programming, but I`ll probably never get used to this browser. I`m a firefox person, haha. :D Like there are Android and Apple persons. :DMay 14, 2016 at 4:44pm
