This resource is not an actual book but it's the first thing that came to my mind when you said that—"The Quick and Dirty Guide to Japanese":

I don't know any books that sound like what you wanted with "surival guide" in the title. Even if the link above is not what you were looking for, that classic internet page definitely deserves to be bookmarked/saved. ^^
Thank you ! Unfortunatly it's not what i'm looking for, maybe it only had the "guide" part :L I'll deffinitely have a look at this one though :)
- The answer I've assumed right from the start to be the one you are looking for is "Tae Kim's Guide to Japanese Grammar" ...However, I kind of just wanted an excuse to drop that awesome link in my previous post. :P
It doesn't seem to have the word "survival" in it anywhere, but it's nearly always the answer people want. Even if someone on here just simply wrote "I'm looking for a website", I'd immediately assume just from that this is the one they mean. So it's pretty likely the answer to your question. As much as it bores me to write out the link for his book/guide, here it is:
